Officially Nothing Happening

Ok first of all I am so over winter, bitter cold and snow that I just had to change my blog to something a little more spring like. Its suppose to be -33 tonight so I will have to go out and plug in the car at some point before bed.

Second of all, nothing productive happened here this weekend. Well I did get the sixth block in my 52 blocks52weeks quilt challenge. But that is about it. I spent most of the weekend on the couch. Too tired and too lazy to do much of anything else.

No housework, no laundry, no crafting, just my best imitation of a couch potato. I think I have cabin fever or I am just fed up, not sure which it is but that's what it was for the last 48 hours.

I had a "to do" list. I always make one for the weekend but this weekend was proof that I don't always pay any attention to it.

So since I did nothing, went no where and had no grand thoughts, I have nothing to blog about. Lets hope next week is more productive.

Somehow I forgot to post this, I wrote it up on Sunday and totally forgot to publish. Maybe because its such a sad little post. I really don't want to sound like I am feeling sorry for myself, I'm not. Well maybe a little but it will pass. Its cabin fever nothing more.

So I sewed up block #7 in the meantime. Row two of my bright little quilt has started. This is so much fun. I look foreward to each Tuesday when the new pattern comes out.

Another new thing is I tried overnight oatmeal for the first time. Throw some oatmeal, almond milk, sweetener ( I used maple syrup) and let it sit in the fridge overnight. Its very yummy. I will make it again but I want to add dried fruit, nuts or granola in it and make it even better. Pinterest has a lot of recipes. Its so easy, no cooking and you can eat it cold or warm it up if you wish.

Other than that its not much else going on. I have two flat tires on my car. That happened three days before payday which made me extremely happy. So I have been grounded for the best part of the week. The car goes into the garage tomorrow which is a blessing. I would have been less than thrilled with no car for the weekend. I need to get groceries and do some errands.

So that brings you up to date. Such as it is. I may even publish this time.

Time Got Away On Me

I have been remiss in blogging of late. I will have to try and do better in future. So I am back. I have been on days off this week which had been very nice. I am filling my time continuing to purge the house, to get things crossed off the "to do" list. Same old, same old.

I am getting some things done and ignoring others. I finally got the Christmas stuff into the basement, all the donation boxes have gone out of the house, the cook books have been donated  and the recycling had been taken out and into the dumpsters so it can be recycled. I feel like the house can breath again.

I have rearranged a couple of kitchen cabinets and made them more user friendly. Seriously one should not fear decapitation when you open a door. I have purged out more recipes. I didn't get a before picture but you could not close the lid and there was a pile of recipes that did not even fit into the box, now it looks like this

I kept very few, precious recipes. Cards my mom wrote out, that sort of thing. The rest went to  be recycled. Not a great lot of stuff done but continuous small steps towards the decluttering goal.\

KitKat, The Banker and I did a scrapbooking day in a near by town. We have gone there before and we had a lovely day. I wore my scrapbook pin:

And I got a lot of my year done. I have our No Cook Christmas party to scrapbook and Christmas and the year is done.

I so enjoy spending time with my friends and doing creative things. I so enjoy these days scrapbooking. Its one of my happy places and I get to do my happy stuff.

What else? Seriously there has not been a lot going on in my world. Not a lot that is blog worthy. Oh yes I have had to give up on going to Scotland now for the second time. My practical side says this is the only choice to make. My childish side is totally having a tantrum. So I ca't talk about it, it just makes me so very sad.

The Banker's Sweet Baboo fixed my car for me. My windshield wipers work once again. I am so totally relieved about that. Saves me a trip to the garage. He also put a new end on my block heater cord for me.

I can cancel the appointment at the garage now. I will do that on Tuesday. Thankfully tomorrow is a civic holiday so I have one more day off before I have to head back to work. That is a blessing in itself.

Productive Weekend

I am so proud of myself but I hit the target for my January purge. I managed to purge out enough stuff to match the number of each day in January. Its almost 500 things. I still have a few more things  that I can get rid of but I was tickled to meet my goal. More is better but I made the goal. I may do this again next year. Two years running and I have managed to meet the target

I will get The Banker over here next weekend and get her to help me haul stuff to the basement and then I will really be a happy happy camper. I even have a garbage bag full of textiles to go to our next textile recycling program. This program has me really excited. They basically take clothing and material that is not fit for wear or use anymore and they recycle it. Shoes, purses, blankets, plush toys. Its a really wonderful thing.

I finally decided on how to sash my little quilt blocks. Best thing ever is I had the material on hand and have not had to buy anything yet.

It looks a little wonky but really its not that bad and once its quilted you will not see that at all. Its going to be a bright, cute little quilt. I am so happy I joined this group.

I hauled recycle out, (two laundry baskets full of the stuff), garbage out, gave the Banker the two afghans to take to the women's shelter. I rearranged a couple of the kitchen cupboards and got stuff put away. When you purge out things you make new homes for stuff that was floating around looking for a place to live. The cook books and donation stuff is all boxed up and ready to go. The Banker has volunteered to take care of all that for me. She is a treasure that woman. Today I have laundry on the go, I made chicken soup. I have done some ironing and worked on the dishes.

This is actually a picture of last weeks soup, I did not take one of this weeks. Also its not chicken soul its turkey. I have finally used that last of that lovely delicious bird I cooked at Christmas time. So yummy. I actually feel like I got stuff done this weekend. I don't always feel that way. I can see the progress beginning to show. No one else may be able to but I can.

I gave away the little baby blanket I made for my co-workers new son. It was well received so that made me feel good.

We had a little shower at work for the baby on Friday. While I am not a fan of having the showers at work, I was please to get to snuggle a new baby for a bit.

I have started another one for another baby. I find this chevron pattern so easy, I am glad it came back in style.

My next big thing is to make a memory quilt from baby clothes that a lady at work gave me. I am also going to start knitting a pair of slippers. These super cold, snowy winter evenings are perfect for crafting. I am more than happy to craft away, avoiding going out on these super cold days.

I am feeling back to my normal self again, thank goodness. I am still dealing with antibiotics but I think its just over kill on the doctor's part. HOWEVER I will do as I am told and use then for one more week. Then I seriously hope I am done with these Shenanigans for a long time.

Now I am off to have a bowl of soup, a warm crusty bun with cheese and a hot cup of tea.
